We wanted to go to the national Gold Wing rally, Wing Ding 40, in Knoxville, TN during the last week in August but the extended forecast called for rain and high humidity. Thursday and Friday of August 23, 24 was going to be beautiful for late summer in the Carolinas. Low 80's in the day, 50's at night, low humidity and no rain. I got a couple of PTO days approved at work, we loaded up Silvia the Gold Wing and headed for the mountains.

Laurie and I had planned to tour Abington VA this weekend but with the recent passing of my mother we decided to go to Ky to spend some time with my father. In a few days we hope to get on the road, ignore Covid 19 and tour some Route 66 sites in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. This weekend trip was a dry run since we have not travelled anyplace for a while.

A couple of weeks ago Laurie said we need a weekend away. She was right. We planned a trip to the NC mountains on Silvia our Gold Wing motorcycle and a stay in the Oak Hill Bed and Breakfast in Waynesville, NC. She lucked out and the weather was perfect after many days of 90+ temperatures.
