|Start Point:||Phoenix, AZ|
|End Point:||Silver City, NM|
|Weather:||50's at the higher elevations, nice day|
Laurie returned home today. We got her bag, an extra bag for the stuff we bought while she was in Phoenix with me and my usual bag all strapped on Ruby for the ride to the airport. We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies, but it all worked out and we got her on the plane for home. Southwest has a direct flight between Phoenix and Raleigh each day so that made her travel easier.
I quickly got out of Phoenix as all the traffic was headed into the city. Everyone says US 191 in eastern AZ is a great ride so that was my goal for the day. It was a wonderful ride for the first 300-400 curves, then it just got exhausting. Check out the video.
Look closely at photo of the single tree below. It is covered in arrows shot from the road.
US 191 runs through a massive copper mine in Morenci. The photos don't really give you a feel for how large the thing was.
The day started at 1,678 feet and ended at 5,949 feet. The highest altitude was 9,342 feet and the lowest altitude was 1,111 feet.
