Granny Burrel Falls, North Carolina

In the summer of 2009 Laurie was a foster mom for two boys. We all spent a week in the western North Carolina mountains playing in streams and waterfalls.

I don't remember now exactly where we parked for this water fall but the hike was not hard. The coordinates I have here for the parking area came from Stay and Play in the Smokies. With our 4x4 truck we probably got closer than those coordinates.

We wore swimming trunks and took our inner tube with us. We were not sure the falls were safe for sliding so Bradley swam around in the pool at the bottom to check the depth and for jagged rocks. He gave us the all clear. He then went up on top and took the first slide.

We had the place all to our selves and played for a couple of hours. There was lots of bare rock with small pools of clear water. This would be a great place for the whole family to spend several hours. Be sure to click the waterfall icon in the map below for more photos.
