Soco Falls, North Carolina
I have read that previously this area was a garbage dump but that problem has been corrected. I saw no trash on our visit. The falls are located beside US 19 about 1.5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you are coming from the parkway, the parking area is a small pullout on your left. The trail begins at a break in the guard rail and leads to a nice, well constructed viewing deck with a great view of the falls. A steep trail with a tattered rope leads closer to the falls. Be careful. The viewing deck is just a couple of minutes from the parking area.If you look at the Google map view below you can see the parking area and viewing deck. Change the map to the road view and zoom out to get an idea of the location of the falls.
Definitely a must see.
