Today we went back to Yellowstone under clear skies and moderate temperatures with no crowds. We spotted a wolf walking down the road like he owned it and late in the day we saw a moose. A couple of the roads in Yellowstone were closed because of snow so we could not make the traditional circle loop around the park.
We had to travel west and then south and east to go around Yellowstone because of the road closures. The next park was the Grand Tetons. The most photographed barn in the USA is the T. A. Moulton barn on Mormon Row at Antelope Flats, Montana. I really wanted to photograph this barn, but the light was wrong. I needed morning light to photograph this barn with the Grand Tetons in the background.
But... there was another barn that was perfect for the late day light. You can read about this beautiful area of the Grand Tetons here.
We did not have a plan for where to camp for the evening so we ended up traveling a little after dark and staying in a WalMart in Riverton, WY. But the late day views of snow covered peaks were worth the extra drive.
